The Girls Who Code Work Prep program is a three-week, fully remote initiative designed for college-aged women and non-binary individuals pursuing careers in the tech industry. This program focuses on enhancing career skills and confidence through practical, hands-on experiences with specific companies’ technologies, processes, employees, and cultures. Participants engage in remote synchronous sessions twice a week, covering diverse topics and technical experiences, alongside asynchronous tasks between sessions. The program aims to ignite professional growth.
This position runs from April 7, 2025, to August 1, 2025, with interviews starting after January 13, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Support and guide up to 120 participants through the Work Prep program.
- Manage participant onboarding two weeks before the program starts.
- Handle participant communications, including responding to inquiries and sending reminders or announcements.
- Provide Zoom and logistical support for participants and corporate partners.
- Track attendance and assignment submissions.
Key Dates and Hours
Round 1: May 28 – June 16 (Mondays/Wednesdays, 3:30–6 PM ET)
Round 2: July 8 – July 24 (Tuesdays/Thursdays, 3:30–6 PM ET)
Hour Commitments:
- April 7 – April 25: Onboarding training (~10 hours/week; 2 hours synchronous)
- April 28 – May 28: Pre-program prep (~15 hours/week; 2 hours synchronous)
- May 28 – July 24: Program work (~20 hours/week; 6 hours synchronous)
- July 28 – August 1: Post-program wrap-up (~10 hours; 2 hours synchronous)
Synchronous sessions occur between 2–6 PM ET, Monday–Friday, with asynchronous tasks completed at the Coordinator’s discretion before deadlines.
Qualifications
- 1+ year experience working with college-aged students or young adults.
- Preferred: Experience in college/job readiness programs.
- Proficient in Zoom hosting (e.g., music, breakout rooms).
- Skilled in basic data tracking and reporting (e.g., attendance).
- Strong collaboration, proactive communication, and attention to detail.
- Reliable internet, computer access (not provided).
- Passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and closing the gender gap in tech.
- Familiarity with the tech industry or adjacent fields (preferred).
Coding experience not required. GWC alumni are encouraged to apply.
