About the Role
As a Senior/Staff Product Designer at Skylight, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping digital solutions by collaborating with leading public health experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You will help improve disease tracking systems, streamline data reporting, and ensure patients and communities are connected with public health authorities. This fully remote role allows you to make a national impact from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other professionals to drive product strategy.
• Plan and execute user research to inform design and product development.
• Design intuitive end-to-end flows, leveraging systems thinking and design principles.
• Create clean, elegant user interfaces or refine existing visual systems.
• Iterate designs based on user feedback and usability testing.
• Produce mockups and design artifacts to communicate product vision.
• Advocate for human-centered design and user needs in an agile, remote work environment.
• Facilitate clear communication among team members and stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding of design goals.

What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience in planning and conducting user research to guide product and design decisions.
• Ability to design scalable, end-to-end interaction flows, ensuring accessible and intuitive navigation.
• Skilled in creating prototypes and high-fidelity designs that bring products to life.
• Strong visual design skills, including branding, iconography, typography, and microinteractions.
• Ability to balance user and business needs in a lean-agile remote work environment.
• Strong communicator, capable of explaining design decisions to various stakeholders.
• Experience working within legacy systems and with client-facing communication in professional services.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Active federal public trust (tier 2).
• Experience in public health or working with the CDC.
• Civic tech or government service experience.
• Familiarity with remote team collaboration tools and best practices.

Position Details

• Full-time, exempt position.
• Location: Fully remote within the United States.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary is determined based on your level of seniority after the interview process, with a competitive range for Senior/Staff Product Designers from $150,000 to $203,000. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
