Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, is hiring a Regional Director of Enterprise Open Source Sales to lead our sales teams in Africa. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, and IoT. We are pioneers in distributed collaboration with over 1,000 team members in 70+ countries, working primarily in a remote environment.
As a Regional Director, you will oversee teams of 5-10 enterprise sales representatives across the region, driving open source adoption. Our mission is to accelerate global adoption of open source software, with a focus on enterprise solutions for infrastructure and applications. We deliver cutting-edge solutions in Linux, cloud, machine learning, and more, while providing comprehensive support and services to customers.
You will be responsible for building and executing sales strategies, coaching your team, and ensuring quarterly and annual targets are met. This role requires leadership, expertise in enterprise software, and a deep understanding of open source technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a regional sales plan to drive new business and account expansion.
- Lead a distributed team of sales representatives in prospecting, account planning, and client engagement.
- Ensure sales targets are met by monitoring pipeline development and managing contract closures.
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams to generate leads and build brand awareness.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports within Salesforce.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Proven leadership in managing sales teams.
- Experience in enterprise software, cloud, or open source sales.
- Strong organisational and reporting skills.
- Fluent in English, with additional language skills relevant to the African market.
- Ability to travel for client and company events.
