As a Legal Summer Associate, you will collaborate with the KnowBe4 Legal department on various cybersecurity industry issues, including commercial law, intellectual property, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and employment matters. You will assist in drafting, analyzing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, along with various research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and negotiate contractual documents, including non-disclosure agreements, customer agreements, and professional services agreements.
- Analyze supplier agreements related to operations, marketing, production, IT, and human resources.
- Support intellectual property, trademark, and copyright issues as needed.
- Shadow attorneys on legal and business matters, including contract negotiations and client counseling.
- Conduct labor and employment law research on developing case law and its impacts on the company.
- Enhance standard form agreements and internal legal processes, including developing playbooks and policies.
- Assist in due diligence efforts for mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions.
- Research statutes, laws, and legal matters affecting organizational activities for compliance and risk management.
- Explore new technology and legal techniques to improve Legal department systems and documents.
- Investigate evolving cybersecurity and data privacy laws and their implications for workplace technology.
- Complete assigned projects related to cybersecurity and data privacy.
- Research various topics affecting the company and its global affiliates.

Internship Opportunities/Experiences:
- Legal Summer Associates will receive a formal mentor and can participate in activities, leadership training, and community service projects to understand the company culture and career paths.
Training:
Legal Summer Associates will assist with tasks involving commercial contracts, international legal issues, labor and employment matters, intellectual property, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Research experience using Westlaw or PLI.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with legal research software platforms.
- Strong multi-tasking, results-oriented, and organizational skills.
- Team-oriented and supportive of colleagues’ success.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Professional and courteous demeanor with external partners and colleagues.
- Transactional experience is a plus.
Education:
- Must be enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Preferred top 25% of class.
- Official transcript may be requested.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
- Recent graduates are not eligible for this program.
