Position Overview:
As the Data Governance Practice Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our data governance practices meet the highest standards for privacy, accuracy, and compliance. Reporting to the Director of Data Governance, you will collaborate across departments to solve critical technical challenges. This remote work role allows you to lead from anywhere while working closely with cross-functional partners to apply data governance technologies and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your technical background to build and integrate data governance technologies and systems.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design, maintain, and execute data governance roadmaps.
  • Monitor and manage data-related issues and activities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and communications on data governance progress.
  • Drive program objectives and ensure key results are met, stepping in to execute when necessary.
  • Lead Workstream efforts and create processes that ensure data privacy, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Foster positive vendor relationships for governance tools that support federated data quality and observability across multiple domains.
  • Conduct ongoing research to implement best practices in data governance, staying up to date with industry trends and regulatory requirements.

Workstream Focus Areas:

  • Data Catalog & Glossary: Define and maintain metadata requirements and standards.
  • Data Quality & Observability: Implement enterprise-wide data quality capabilities, ensuring data accuracy and monitoring through scorecards and profiling services.
  • Data Policies & Workflows: Define data-related decision rights, implement policies, and facilitate governance forums.
  • Data Domains & Data Products: Define and prioritize data domains and assign ownership and stewardship responsibilities.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Deep understanding of data regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, PCI DSS).
  • Minimum of 3 years working in data engineering, DataOps, or similar roles, particularly in multi-domain enterprises.
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., data catalogs, access controls, observability).
  • Strong technical skills in data storage architectures (relational databases, data lakes) and data flow architectures (microservices, ETL/ELT, APIs).
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively from a remote location using modern collaboration tools.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Governance experience in data mesh environments or in healthcare/medical technology industries.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML governance, data integration from external sources, and Master Data Management best practices.
