Role Overview: Data Governance Practice Lead (Remote)
In this remote role, you will report to the Director of Data Governance and collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to tackle crucial technical challenges. You will be responsible for applying data governance technologies and leading cross-functional efforts to ensure our data meets the highest standards for privacy, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with partners to build and integrate data governance and management technologies.
  • Guide program leadership in creating and executing Workstream roadmaps.
  • Manage data-related issues and stewardship activities, ensuring data quality and observability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and program communications.
  • Take ownership of key objectives, define roadmaps, allocate resources, and step in to execute tasks when necessary.
  • Present program content and progress, facilitate meetings, and manage stakeholder engagement.
  • Support vendor relationships and provide technical support for data governance tools.

Key Workstreams

  • Data Catalog & Glossary: Define metadata standards, automate metadata capture, and improve data literacy.
  • Data Quality & Observability: Implement enterprise data quality capabilities and resolve data quality issues.
  • Data Policies & Workflows: Manage enterprise data governance policies and clarify data-related decision rights.
  • Data Domains & Products: Define and govern data domains, and prioritize governance activities.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, PCI DSS, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data governance, or related roles.
  • Experience with data governance tools, multi-domain enterprise environments, and data flow architectures (e.g., ETL/ELT, microservices, APIs).
  • Proven ability to work remotely and effectively use modern collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Miro, Google Docs).

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in data mesh environments and healthcare/medical technology industries.
  • Familiarity with AI, machine learning, and their impact on data governance and regulatory compliance.
