Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Project Accountant 1 to manage project setup and billing for a segment of our consulting business. This fully remote role requires attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Managers (PMs) on project initiation, contract management, change orders, and closeout processes.
• Participate in the procurement process.
• Issue and edit draft invoices, working with PMs to finalize and submit invoice packages to clients with supporting documentation.
• Conduct billing adjustments, ensuring proper impacts on Payroll, AP, and Billing.
• Interpret client contracts to ensure accurate project setup, including compensation, budgets, and billing terms.
• Assist PMs in developing staff budgets and project allowances.
• Attend quarterly project meetings and execute action items.
• Provide financial support for proposals and process project closeouts, including WIP and AR write-offs.
• Research and resolve project accounting queries and generate ad hoc reports for PMs.
• Assist with annual audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 1-2 years of relevant experience, or 3-4 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of project revenue and profitability, with the ability to discuss project performance with PMs.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with Deltek Vision, EleVia, or similar software (preferred).
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
