NCIA provides secure, effective communications and IT services to NATO member countries. This includes cybersecurity, command and control systems, satellite communications, electronic warfare, and information management. Spektrum is looking for skilled personnel to support NCIA’s key projects.
Program Overview
Spektrum supports NCIA’s Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS) in maintaining NATO’s IT infrastructure. As part of the NATO Core Geographic Information System (Core GIS) Application Service, we provide data processing to support situational awareness using satellite imagery for the Foundation Imagery Layer (FIL). Our team ensures consistent integration of new satellite and aerial imagery into the FIL, maintaining up-to-date spatial data for NATO operations.
Role Duties and Responsibilities
- Process satellite imagery into FIL according to NATO standards
- Perform color adjustments, positional corrections, and metadata management
- Manage and disseminate processed data
- Investigate automation solutions and quality improvements
- Support geospatial production tasks including seamline creation, mosaicking, and imagery processing
- Collaborate on quality assurance methodologies and control
- Provide technical advice and reports on imagery progress
Essential Skills and Experience
- 5+ years experience in advanced satellite imagery processing (orthorectification, mosaicking, color blending)
- Expert knowledge of commercial satellite imagery formats and ArcGIS software
- 3+ years experience with image processing software (preferably ERDAS Imagine)
- Proficiency in programming for imagery processing using libraries like GDAL, OpenCV, and ArcPy
- Strong understanding of raster and vector data manipulation and GIS project execution
- Familiarity with raster tile creation and compression formats (MrSID, JPEG2000)
- Fluent in English
Education
- MSc in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience
Working Policy
- Fully Remote
- Some travel to NATO sites may be required
Security Clearance
Valid National or NATO Secret clearance required.
