Girls Who Code is hiring enthusiastic Remote Pathways Program Advisors to inspire and mentor high school girls and non-binary students in the 2025 Pathways Program. This free, flexible six-week program empowers students to explore technology careers while building confidence and coding skills through beginner to advanced courses in Web Development, Cybersecurity, and Data Science + AI.
Participants progress at their own pace, earning certificates for completed courses and engaging with optional synchronous opportunities, such as:
- Connecting with peers and Advisors on Discord.
- Participating in virtual events with industry leaders to explore career paths in tech.
- Attending collaborative Student Hours for project support.
As a Pathways Advisor, you will mentor a cohort of approximately 250 students, fostering an engaging, inclusive, and accessible virtual learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Guide students through the Pathways Program, offering encouragement and feedback.
- Lead weekly Advisor Events and facilitate Student Hours using Girls Who Code materials.
- Provide constructive project feedback and track student progress.
- Support students on Discord, posting discussion questions and fostering engagement.
- Collaborate with the Advisor Team and Instruction Manager in weekly meetings.
- Respond to student inquiries via email and encourage course completion.
- Fulfill administrative tasks, such as surveys and progress tracking.
- Attend professional development Roundtables.
- Represent Girls Who Code in external meetings with partners.
Qualifications:
- Final-year college student or graduate with a BA/BS in computer science or related field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred).
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or Python, and interest in Web Development, Cybersecurity, or Data Science + AI.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or tutoring, especially in computer science, is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to virtual learning environments and diverse student needs.
- Commitment to Girls Who Code’s mission and belief that all students can learn to code.
Time Commitment:
- Training: June 10-12, 2025 (20 hours)
- Prep Week: June 23-27, 2025 (12 hours)
- Program Duration: June 30-August 8, 2025 (30 hours/week)
- Grading Week: August 11-15, 2025 (30 hours)
